Settings for enabling Indian languages support on Windows 98/ME/2000.
If your Operating system is Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, then to get the support for Telugu UNICODE font the following steps need to be performed:
Step 1: Download and Install the Internet Explorer version 6.0 from Microsoft website.
Step 2: Download the Telugu UNICODE font and save it into the fonts folder inside the Windows folder. (It is recommended that you restart the system for registering the font properly)
Note: Unzip the zip file.
Step 3: Download the Latest Dll file for UNICODE support. Save the downloaded .exe file - double click on the file - give a temporary folder address - the program will extract a few files into the folder - of these 'usp.zip' is the one you will need - leave the other files as it is.
unzip usp.zip using Winzip program- it will give two files viz: usp10.dll and readme.txt and save usp10.dll into the Internet Explorer folder (where iexplore.exe resides) inside the Program Files Folder (For Example: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer)
Note: 1: Make sure that no instance of Internet Explorer (browser) is running.
2: Unzip the zip file.
Settings for enabling Indian languages support on Windows XP :
Step 1: Go to "Control Panel" and then click "Regional and Language Options".
Step 2: Click on "Languages" tab and check the box which says "Install Files for complex scripts".
Step 3: This method will ask for Win XP CD. Put the CD in the CD drive and let the installation begin.
Step 4: Once the installation is complete, boot the system if required and again go to 2nd step.
Step 5: Now click "Details" tab. Click on "Add" to add the languages of your choice.
Step 6: Click on the "Advanced" tab in the "Details" tab.
Step 7: Uncheck the "Turn off advanced text services" in the "System Configuration".
Step 8: Restart your machine.
Step 9: A small "EN" will appear in the Taskbar. Left click on "EN" and choose the "TL" to start typing in Telugu.
